Revealed at La Semaine de la Critique, back at Cannes in 2025!

Icon of the 2024 La Semaine de la Critique’s poster, Hafsia Herzi presented her first feature film YOU DESERVE A LOVER in 2019. She enters the official competition with her third feature film, THE LITTLE SISTER. After her short film JUNIOR and her first feature film RAW, both selected at La Semaine de la Critique, Julia Ducournau, Palme d'Or for TITANE, returns to official competition with ALPHA. Nespresso Grand Prize in 2016 with MIMOSAS, Oliver Laxe will present his new feature film SIRAT.

Revealed in 2010 with DEAR PRUDENCE at La Semaine de la Critique, Rebecca Zlotowski presents her latest feature film VIE PRIVÉE out of competition. Cannes Première will host CONNEMARA the fourth feature by Alex Lutz, who closed La Semaine de la Critique in 2018 with GUY as well as THE LOVE THAT REMAINS by Icelandic director Hlynur Pálmason who presented his second feature A WHITE WHITE DAY at Semaine de la Critique in 2019.

At Un Certain Regard, the Palestinian brothers and filmmakers Tarzan & Arab Nasser return to Cannes with ONCE UPON A TIME IN GAZA. They were discovered at La Semaine de la Critique in 2015 with their first feature film DEGRADE. In Special screening in 2017 with BLOODY MILK, winner of three César Awards, Hubert Charuel will present his second feature film MÉTÉORS. Anna Cazenave Cambet, who was discovered at Semaine de la Critique in 2020 with her first feature GOLD FOR DOGS will access to Un Certain Regard with her sophomore feature LOVE ME TENDER. So will Colombian director Simón Mesa Soto with A POET; his first feature AMPARO was selected for Semaine de la Critique in 2021 and winner of Louis Roederer Foundation Rising Star AwardAlso at Un Certain Regard, two short film directors alumni with their first feature: AISHA CAN’T FLY AWAY by filmmaker Morad Mostafa, a project developed at Next Step, passed La Semaine de la Critique with his short film I PROMISE YOU PARADISE in 2023. Another alumni in short film with THE MELTING CREATURES in 2022, Diego Céspedes will also present his first feature THE MYSTERIOUS GAZE OF THE FLAMINGO.

The Official selection for the Palme d'Or for short film will welcome two filmmakers who have been part of Semaine de la Critique: Gabriel Abrantes, Grand Prize Nespresso 2018 with his 1st feature DIAMANTINO will present his latest short ARGUMENTS IN FAVOR OF LOVE, and Filipino filmmaker Arvin Belarmino who was last year in the short film competition at la Semaine de la Critique with RADIKALS accesses the Official selection with AGAPITO.

Last but not least, Nadav Lapid will present his last feature YES at Directors’ Fortnight after having premiered his 2nd feature THE KINDERGARTEN TEACHER at Semaine de la Critique in 2014 and his medium-length film FROM THE DIARY OF A WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER in 2016.
