Brittany, 1999. Sylvia, 68, a retired computer engineer, is gravely ill. She has entrusted her life to Dr. Dubois, who, according to village rumors, has discovered a miracle cure against cancer. But as the storm of the century approaches the coast, Sylvia begins to question her doctor’s methods.

Marie Larrivé’s talent for capturing the beauty and strangeness of nature through the expressive animation of natural elements is well established. Set against the Breton landscape on the verge of devastation by the historic wreckage, Erika explores the inner turmoil of a mature woman, isolated and vulnerable, condemned to face the stark reality of her impending death. Building in intensity, as in a nail-biting revenge thriller, the story draws inspiration from Gothic novels, dark Romanticism, and expressionist cinema, creating a spellbinding, yet oppressive atmosphere. The direction relies on the ability to craft visual worlds that move far beyond their physical beauty: muted sorrow, lingering melancholy, and latent dramatic tension emanate from it, transforming the heroine’s inner woes into an emotional and sensory experience of rare intensity.
