In 1936, Henri Langlois, a film enthusiast and visionary, created the Cinémathèque Française to save films, costumes, sets, posters and other film gems from destruction. He was the first to ever consider cinema as an art form to be preserved, restored, and shown.

Eight decades later, in an utterly modern building fully dedicated to the art of cinema, La Cinémathèque Française sheds a unique light on film through various activities and one of the most extensive cinema collections in the world. A true hub for cinephiles, it relentlessly revisits films of all eras, all horizons, all genres, allowing audiences to experience the history of cinema and to get acquainted with new directors and new talents. To that aim, every year, La Semaine invites Parisians to previews of its selected films, presented by the creators, less than a fortnight after they are screened in Cannes.

The Cinémathèque française is thrilled to renew its collaboration and welcome this programme, which has become a landmark event to discover today the filmmakers of tomorrow.
