Bringing film music to light!

Because we listen to a film as much as we watch it, music is essential to the creative process. It is an integral part of the identity of a work, drives the narrative, heightens emotions, and sets both rhythm and atmosphere. As recognised in the French Intellectual Property Code, the composer is considered the third author of any cinematographic work, along with the director and the screenwriter. 

For 175 years, Sacem (Society of Authors, Composers, and Publishers of Music) has been committed to representing artists across the music, audiovisual, and cinema industries: film score composers, writer-directors, as well as dubbing and subtitling authors. Our authors' society is committed to supporting and promoting original music creation by fostering artistic careers and creative projects, and by encouraging the emergence and professional integration of new talents.
