The Penelopes

The Penelopes are a French duo based in London, formed by Axel Basquiat and Vincent Tremel, lifelong friends who grew up together in a Paris council block. Their work carries the imprint of this underrepresented environment, shaped by a desire to rise above limitation and build cultural bridges. First supported by Agnès B., they developed a multidisciplinary path across music, film and visual art. Their flagship project is a series of cinematic duets with actresses including Isabelle Adjani, Asia Argento, Virginie Ledoyen, Nathalie Baye, Laura Smet and Lola Bessis, with a new cycle of duos now in progress, all finalised at Abbey Road. They create music curation for fashion houses, and they are also award winning film composers with scores shown at Cannes, Sundance, Locarno and the BFI London Film Festival.
