About Mo-Bum-Shi-Min (Exemplary citizen)

by Carole Milleliri

Races roll along and punters are busy. However, it is in the toilets at the back that the suspense lies. There, the echo of gamblers is subdued by neat Ho-Jun’s obsession: to fight the filth of the premises. For his first short film, Kim Cheol-hwi directs a gritty and dark punk confrontation, whose sophisticated photography penetrates this gloomy filth. An unexpectedly thrilling film, flawless in its rhythm and potential for allegory. From the bottom of a latrine, a filmmaker is born and you should not let him be flushed out of your sight.
