About Forastera

By Nanako Tsukidate

Forastera chronicles a moment of a summer holiday as youth fades away. Antonia, the splitting image of her dead grandmother, is "transformed" as she puts on her old dress and wakes her wretched grandfather from his torpor. Under a soft summer light, he rekindles with his wife, who has materialized once again, Lucía Aleñar Iglesias captures this mad love and fantasy through extremely detailed gazes and gestures. We understand the girl has changed, that she will never be the same again after this experience; she will become a stranger.
