Before Grown Ups, her first feature film, Anna Novion directed three short films during her studies at the University of Saint-Denis. Then she studied cinema at Jussieu in a more theorical way and wrote a thesis about Ingmar Bergman. Swedish by her mother, she directed her first short film in Sweden while she is 19, Frédérique est française (2000). Then she directed Chanson entre deux (2001) and On ne prend pas la mer quand on la connaît pas, (2004).
