THE BOTHERSOME MAN

SYNOPSIS : Un homme se réveille dans un autobus. Il ne sait ni d’où il vient ni où il va. L’autobus s’arrête à une vieille station-service. Andréas, 42 ans, y est accueilli par un petit homme amical qui le conduit en voiture vers une ville. Tout a été préparé pour son arrivée : emploi, vêtements et appartement. Dans cette ville, il y a quelque chose d’étrange. Les gens semblent éteints. Des gestionnaires, sorte de gardiens omniprésents, rangent et cachent tout ce qui n’a pas sa place dans la bonne marche de la ville. Confronté à un monde où l’on ne parle qu’amicalement d’aménager et décorer son intérieur, Andréas se sent de plus en plus mal à l’aise. Il tente de s’enfuir mais la ville est sans issue.

SYNOPSIS : Andreas (42) awakens on a bus. He has no idea where he comes from nor where he’s going. The bus pulls up at a run-down bus stop, where a friendly little man greets him and drives him into town in a small car. Everything has been prepared for his arrival : a job, clothes and an apartment. But something isn’t quite right. The inhabitants of the city all seem strangely unemotional. He constantly sees Caretakers (a kind of omnipresent handymen) cleaning up and hiding anything that’s out of place in the well-functioning city. Andreas grows more and more uncomfortable, and in the end gets exhausted by the meaningless discussions about redecorating and choice of colors - the only topics people around him address. He tries to escape, but there’s no way out of the city...
REALISATEUR : Jens Lien réalise avec The Bothersome Man son 2ème long métrage après Jonny Vang. Les courts métrages Natural Glasses, Sunday Dinner at Mom’s et Shut the door réalisés en collaboration avec le scénariste Per Schreiner ont été en compétition à Cannes et Venise.

DIRECTOR : Jens Lien returns to the big screen with The Bothersome Man. Lien has previously directed the prize-winning feature film Jonny Vang, and his short film collaborations (Natural Glasses, Sunday Dinner at Mom’s and Shut the door) with screenwriter Per Schreiner have competed at Cannes and Venice.
