Cristèle is currently developing her first feature film, Alma Viva. 15 year-old Salomé returns to Portugal for the Summer holidays. However, after an initially carefree period, her beloved grandmother suddenly dies. And as the family tears itself apart over the purchase of a tombstone, Salomé is haunted by the living soul of the woman who awaits a dignified funeral. With Alma Viva, Cristèle Alves Meira continues to explore the unique strength of her region of origin: the magical beliefs, the tough yet poetic characters, the arid climate. This is a coming-of-age story set within a very atypical family, which allows Cristèle to stay true to the idea that guides her films, that of always going back to her roots to better understand her experiences.
