About La Fin du dragon (The Dragon’s Demise)

By Iris Brey

Marina Diaby’s dragon is a dying mother. The director’s approach is a very singular one. During a whole day, the three adult children meet up in the house where their mother spent her last moments and react to her disappearance. The family ties unfold in this single-set film, through the mourning and the arrival of a dog. Between the absurd humour and the emotional score, the film swings from laughter to tears, and so do we.
